discount rate – n : finance/accounting term; rate
used to discount cash flows to determine the present value of future expected
cash flows. In finance, it is accepted that $1 today is worth more than $1 tomorrow.
A company’s discount rate allows it to determine how much $1 tomorrow (or one
year from now, or ten years from now) is worth today.
